Honda XL1000 Valadero

Never having sat in either (I did have a VTR1000 so kinda familiar with the motor) I would guess that the vstrom 1000 would have similar cog to the Varadero.
Would 5 grand not get you a nice late 1200 TC?…. Or an earlier one to get the better build quality….

I have been having a tidy up in my workshop and i've found a brand new maxton rear shock spring for my hayabusa if i wanted to remove the HPA.
Just for info the Varadero and Hayabusa are both the same weight at around 275kgs wet weight.
Now this maxton spring is 180mm and the oem honda spring is 200mm.
Now the Maxton spring is uprated to take pillion weight as well.
So would fitting the 180mm maxton spring be safe if the oem spring is 200mm
I know i can shorten the shock by 10mm, and if need be i can put the HPA to near max.
The Maxton Spring has 13.50 on it if you know what weight that is.
On of the plus side, i want to lower the bike anyway.

So your thoughts on this please.
