Is 96bhp enough?

Dropped my Stelvio off at Teasdales for a service and they kindly gave me a 1050 Adventure for 24hrs.

What a stonking bike.. I want one.... as a second bike you understand.

Took the 1190 standard adventure out for a couple of hours and it is a cracking bike with blistering acceleration for a twin, but to be honest around the back roads of the North Yorks Moors I preferred the 1050, it felt much lighter more nimble and just as fast up to around 90.

They offered me a nice deal on a PCP for the demo bike, but I'd rather own one, which hopefully won't be in the to distant future.

Got back on my Stelvio though and still loved it.

I confess I find myself pretty conflicted on this debate - On the one hand, the 1190r looks incredibly tempting :drool But I am also constantly surprised at how much I enjoy riding my 12GSA on my daily commute, jumping speed bumps, and scrubbing those chicken strips off... well, trying too! And that's on a 90k old bike!

am really tempted by this bike. I have had a 990 and a 1200 GSA. I loved the character of the 990 but the easability (is that a word) for the GSA. I thought the GSA was easier to ride with my lack of skills but the 990 tuened my head more. Have seen an ex-demo 1050 that I am intertested in but cant test ride for next few weeks as away overseas. The thing I dont like (as mentioned here too) is the rear frame, it doesnt match the rest of it and looks cheap, otherwise it is nice. Love the 1190 but i dont need 150 bhp and they say this is a quick from the off which is good enough for me!

What does that mean in real terms JB ?

It's a cheap deal over 2 or 3 years

I think they are offering the deal @ 0% or very low rate

Must be a slow seller ;)

I thought it was an ok bike, screen needs sorting for me & suspension needs work too, but I guess I'm spoilt riding an Ohlins equipped bike already

Nobody seems to want to own anything anymore

If it's £58 a month, the bike will lose more than that, so what's the point in owning it when you can rent it and hand it back, without penalty, at the end of the term? Unless you're going to keep it for 10 years!:P

There was 3 1050s sitting in my dealer Friday with "amazing deal" stickers all over them. I didn't ask what the deal was but I am pretty sure they were the same 3 bikes sitting there since May when I put a deposit down on on my SA. They aren't selling for whatever reason (not enough tech, lack of power whatever) . If I were looking at a used one it would have to be really cheap otherwise the offer price might not be much more. I think their resale will be low as well with a low market interest and high dealer incentives on new. That said I don't think the model will be around for long so maybe they will be rare enough to bolster prices in the future.

I think the problem with the 1050 is its spec against the completion such as the Tiger 800

The price at £9500 I feel is now about right
