Mudsling update

mudsling update

Hi Mermoto,

Where did you get the Puig rear hugger from and how much was it? I've tried our "Puig Distributors" in Australia, but they're no help at all.

Puig's site show a different part no. for the lc GSA to the lc GS, but I'm guessing they'd both fit my 2014 lc GSA

cheers
John

mudsling update

Thank you for the replies.

Just to clarify, if anyone knows for sure, as the Puig site shows a different part no. for the
2014 GSA lc version (it's not available), but I can't see why it would be different to the standard 2014 GS lc.

Unless the GSA version comes with Black mounting bolts to match the chassis

Any ideas?

Thanks again
John

John, wait for the mudsling. It's a much better option for the GS. Huggers and GS's don't work, especially if you want to go offroad.

Good find.:thumb But, it doesn't look like it comes down as far as the mudsling, and also looks like you'll need to drill holes to attach it.

Doesn't look hard, couple of holes in the plastic unit and zip ties, bob's yer uncle

Looks wider at sides and thus more protective

So as this thread has turned in to all thing mud protection for the Wassboxer I thought I would post a pic of my Puig as I have now taken the BMW mudguard thing off and it looks so much better. Shame Puig didn't make it a bit longer but I have plan. Also a couple of pics of the Machine Art front mudguard and how well it protects with a Touratat sump guard fitted.

BIT LONGER ...I agree........ what's your plan ? ......is it making much of a difference / trying to decide PUIG or Mudslinger

I like the idea of the articulated plastic on the engine bars to save then from the smaller car park fall-overs. where did you get them/it?

Spoke to Nippy today and he said end of this month (April) for mudsling...

... I hope so, fingers crossed!

Protection for the protection... There is an entire thread on it somewhere.

Electrical or computer shops. It's probably the stuff used to tidy PC cables and cables behind a desk. You could also use pipe lagging or, at a push, a sock. Soiled under crackers, whilst making your bike unattractive to the ever present thieves, is a touch radical. But if you are well supplied, either by yourself or through a family member, go for it.

Whatever method you use, cable ties will be your friends. Do try to make sure they colour match and are aligned symmetrically... Not unsurprisingly, there is more than one thread on that, too. Engineer got most vexed over the use of silver ones. In this case, whilst they may be a good match with the bars, the silver might not look too good with the black. Red or yellow is right out but might add a certain 'Adventure, seat of the pants, use what's to hand mate' appeal, confirming the bike's (and as such the owner's) credentials to a wider public. Submit pictures (bods like pictures) for peer review by all means.

The best and ultimately cheapest protection? Don't fall over, particularly not in the car park. Onlookers will think you a knob. They will film you, shove it on U-boob, where Tossers will spot it and will repeat it endlessly on UKGSer, laughing or getting really cross according to their personal whim and humour that morning. Remember: The more you fear you will fall over in the car park, the more often you'll be proved right. Destiny is in your hands.

PS The shorter reply was of course: What does it look like it is? Have you zero imagination? Two rhetorical questions, not requiring an answer.

SWMBO wasn't impressed with her dirty bottom this afternoon :p I think a Puig hugger or Mudsling is required
