I've been running a CBR1000RR over the past year and although I loved the bike and speed, felt that I was always holding back and the aches and pains after 200 mile rides were getting a bit much. So I decided to try the 1200GS & 800GS back to back...

The first test ride of the 08 demo went well over the twisties and town sections I tried, motorways less well but once the screen was adjusted, much better! The 800 was good but the bigger bike felt more suited to longer trips. The second test ride secured it, I didn't want to give the bike back! So I bought a low mile (2500) 2008 bike in silver with lots of toys (prem & dynamic packs) and at a decent price.

After two days with the bike and several hundred miles later, all I can say is that I totally made the right choice. The luggage that came with the bike (plastic) is great, the bike handles like a dream and is very quick on the twisties. What a great machine and after a brief run to the shops turned into a 4 hour ride yesterday I felt great when I got off - no aches or pains!

Popped into the dealer to drop off some Blade bits and asked about a split rubber grommet on the ESA unit. They said no problem, ordered a new ESA unit (!!) although they hadn't seen that issue before. Great service and peace of mind!

So although I will still keep my 76 Honda CB750 for sunny summer days, the GS appears to be the perfect bike! :beerjug:

Nice to see you're happy with it, a word of warning though. Do NOT visit Touratech or Nippy Normans.

And get yerself a twat suit.

Nice bike, and whats wrong with a Twat Suit :augie

:D

Nothing whatsoever. It's a stylish, rufty tufty statement of intent, that has the benefit of increasing testosterone levels without the aid of pharmaceuticals. I never cross guys in Twat Suits.

Good job :D

I tried on the twat suit but did look like a twat :)

I've just had a look at the Rukka Armadillo suit, which is v pricey but fitted well and didn't feel too bulky....

Congratulations on becoming a Tosser.
I have a Rukka Armax suit, it was expensive but I it's never let a drop of water in and no armadillo's were hurt in making it!

:D

My mate has that, bit over my budget unfortunately, the Armadillo just fits into my allowance!

Best bike I have ever owned!

You HAVE to get a twat suit!

It fitted great and is very lightweight due to the obviously Armadillo skin used ! :D

Anybody got one?

Maybe give Hein Gericke a try, too. That's what I'm using now, and it is still keeping me dry and warm after tens of thousands of hard miles of use.

have you taken the knee padding out of your nice bike jeans you naughty boy!

Yes.

Wondered if anybody had tried the Rukka. Seems like a good bit of kit but wonder about the streetguard.

Not a big fan of HG and the fit never seems right on me :)

Sorry guys, but whats a twat suit - I might be wearing one and dont know it!

You're not the guy who bought a Shoei Hornet from Forth Gear and are having trouble with it being noisy, are you?
