As bendy says, the PCV is fixed mapping. However, it does work well. I probably would have kept mine if it hadn't been for the problems waterproofing the connectors.
Where I will disagree, is that the re map is the only option that utilises the adaptability of the standard ECU.
Sorry, bendy. But as your experience does not include having a bike with a re map or AF XiED units, only your opinion on having a PCV has any validity.
As with a re map, the ECU continues to adapt to the variables as they happen. The AF XiED units are simply altering the input from the O2 sensors which makes it alter the AF ratio by up to 8%. The amount can be quickly adjusted by the owner.
And, no, it's nothing like using a booster plug which is leaned out by the very same ECU.
Maybe, just maybe you could coax a couple of additional bhp by putting a bike with AF XiED units on a dyno and tweaking the adjusters. The adjusters go from 1 which is stock, to 11 which is the full 8%.
But if what I'm led to believe by Roger, the developer, it takes a little time for the ECU to alter the ratios after moving the adjusters. Maybe a tank or so of fuel.
I'm currently running mine on number 8 and it's running just perfectly. Much like the description of how it would run after a hilltop re map, actually.
I did consider sending my ECU over for a re map without the dyno run but was disappointed that the cost would be the same at £350. As what hilltop actually does to the ECU is still a bit of a mystery, it makes the sceptical side of me think the dyno run is a bit of window dressing? That's me banned for heresy!

I've over 3000 miles on my AF XiED units and they are just great.
Check out my thread to see my updates on how they're working out.
