Stolen

The examples you give in the 'Car Wars' programme make my point, it isn't a deterrent to theft. It can be a good tool in recovery but that's very dependant on a lot of variables.
Good reply. :clap
This may sound naiive, but can Mr Thieving Scumbag tell if a vehicle has a tracker fitted, or does he/she have to dismantle it? :nenau

Certainly when Tracker was first launched it was part of the programme to hide the unit (even from the vehicle owner).

Nowadays they don't bother but there's nothing outward to say it's fitted unless an owner adds a sticker or something.

The thieves don't believe stickers anyway, they will often do many thousands of pounds of damage ripping a car apart to find the unit (or not).

Plant (no, the JCB type  ) is big money and often not registered with DVLA.

The Tracker is often a very obvious triangular, armoured unit riveted somewhere conspicuous (it still gets nicked).

As an aside, the London Olympics will be the largest building programme in the EU for many years. There isn't enough plant available to meet the demands of this building programme. It's anticipated that much of the plant used will be stolen. There's a massive operation in being put in place to deal with this.
