WC on the dirt

By the end of the 2013 season the instructors were pulling their hair out with the amount of time that they were having to spend during the day repairing holed rocker covers. They said that they were going to have a serious rethink before the 2014 season about having guards fitted on the new 2014 bikes.
Would be interested to hear from anyone who's doing the Portugal season opener as to whether they have the guards fitted on the new bikes or not.

Surely fitting the BMW cylinder guards (metal or plastic) should eliminate a lot of repairs?:nenau

And, if they do a good job, BMW will probably sell more to LC owners, once they've seen that they work.:D

Do BMW do a cylinder head guard yet? My 2009 GS came with lovely pressed aluminium guards with wacking great rubber bungs behind; they were perfect. I'd love something similar for my WC.

Yep, they're being launched at the same time as the new GSA:thumb

The off road school guy at the bike show told me that they would be running engine bars for next season!

We'll just have to wait and see!

Maybe fitting the lower crash bars from the GSA is the thing to do. It doesn't look like BMW is doing cylinder guards for the WC.

Enduro mode is mapped to deal with normal big block tyres that you fit on the bike for touring and sorts. Enduro pro is for knobblies. The ABS and ASC is mapped to get the best possible traction so a little bit of wheel spin is allowed but the power delivery is a bit softer. Enduro pro adds to that where the rear ABS is disconnected to allow full use of the rear brake and more slip/spin of the rear under power.

That's interesting Nutty. I shall have to bend the ears of my local friendly BMW dealer. Is that another pain in my wallet I feel?

I've been in touch with Wollaston BMW at Northampton today and they knew nothing about them. To their credit they went away, did some homework and called me back to say yes they will be available from March and so I have ordered a pair. Hopefully they will be ready before I get down to serious riding in the spring.

The only serious riding you are going to do is to York and back. Enjoy :aidan.

Six days of trail riding in Spain last year Gaz, the bike performed flawlesly. Engine bars, better bash plate and exhaust guards are a must - :thumb
