Number 6 even riding gods like Rossi or Marquez could not ride without electronic aides like TC and still crash !
Or look at Crutchlow who crashes every time despite having riding aides way superior to the stuff we get to buy...
But I hear you.I myself would buy a smaller, simpler and lighter Urban G/S if it had better and slightly taller suspension, practical center stand and factory hard bags...:thumb2
But also a R1250XR or R1250S...:D

No Ding-Dong it doesn't !
As there is no other bike like the GS or the XR on the market !
The XR having the advantage of a motor with ballistic top-end or if you keep it above 9000 rpm ballistic pull in any gear or speed

But you talk about twisty back roads and bumpy pavements and say nothing touches a GS apart from a lighter Gs or the XR ! So a ballistic top end and harsh suspension is really ideal for bumpy pavements and twisty back roads !!

Surely you would want 150hp and 17" wheels tho ;)

In my regular group that I ride with......I have a 2007 R1200GSA, there are 3 x GSA LC, 1 x KTM 1290 SAs, 1 x S1000XR and a Multistrada. In the Wicklow mountains (which is our regular playground) we rarely get seperated by more than several seconds, a minute at the most and that's even when "playing" hard.

All this obsession with 5bhp....10bhp.......20bhp extra is irrelevant. Torque and handling is what's important unless you go everywhere in straight lines (and where's the fun in that)

That's my tuppance!!
