$31000 Wankpanzer !

Ridden one, have you?

Yup .
Hence me agreeing that the switchgear should be backlit .
Inexcusable in a bike costing so much and already distracting as you need to take your eye off the road to delve into hidden menus .
This was pointed out by Ian in the video .

Yes, they should be backlit... It is a great bike in all other respects, though.

You do get used to it , and once you set the buttons it’s easy and not as bad as all make out . Ownership helps as it is confusing first time on a test , but I remember similar when I first had the function options on the gs. The new one works well for me . As for back lit , nice but not essential as I know where my buttons are lol

This.

I liked the motor and the handling but it felt a bit small and I didn’t like the re-use of old switchgear .
It’s already come back to bite BMW by repurposing the heated grip switch as the on/off button , which wasn’t up to the job .
I’ll never buy a new BMW whilst my nearest dealer is on another island .
We have a local dealer than can do servicing etc but all recalls / warranty work has to go to Jersey , which is a big no as already proven by the on/off switch recall issues before many had picked up their bikes .
Now it’s faulty panniers . What’s next ?
I’ll stick with my £10K cheaper Tracer GT + which is reliable and all the bike I’ll ever need ….

I get that you don't like the bike, but why this relentless negativity?

It is what it is. Some swear by them, others hate them....but, when all is said and done this is a site dedicated to the GS, is it not?

Did you not just read what I wrote ?
I don’t dislike the bike , there’s just too much against it for me to get one ..
And this site isn’t just to worship the GS .
We’re not all PCP/ GS androids .

Test ride opinions are a bit suspect , my first ride was , oh , not sure , complicated , not like the old one , not like the v4 etc etc , but still felt a note of well , hmmm . So second ride out in better conditions sealed the deal for me , now I'm used to it over 1500 miles its brilliant .
I took the Ktm out 4 times , just could not find a spark for me , the BM XR . once as just did not like it as buzzy and too revvy for my needs and as for Yamaha just kept walking past the shop .... The only good one was the R1 , and that was on the track.
No PCP and certainly not an android , but like Troppo says , it is a GS thread ..... and we like to share our thoughts about the bikes , I would also post if negative , but not from this bike... oh sorry Its shit on tyres , but that may be me. :D

Disregarding the ridiculous price , I actually liked the Wankpanzer when I tested it , a fact I stated at the time in a thread I started .
I wasn’t keen on the switch gear and found it cramped . So I would need a taller seat which would then probably need a taller screen .
I also stated that the forthcoming GSA might be the better bike for me .
I even contacted the dealer ( Mansells) in Jersey and spoke to the local service agent .
I ascertained that the bike could be serviced locally but would have to be shipped to Jersey for recall /warranty work .So not normally an issue , unless it’s a BMW …..

So I watched any issues with interest , and lo and behold the fucking thing is recalled before many have even been delivered.

I just can’t trust such an unreliable brand as the shipping to and fro to Jersey is a deal breaker .

Shame .

I know you say the tracer is 10k cheaper but by buying a lightly used bike with lots of extras its cost me about 2.5k more than a new tracer (ok i have no luggage) and the yam dealer near me are shit and a bunch of amateurs.

Add in what is likely to be high depreciation on a
Jap bike and a tracer would end up costing me more.

The switchgear button can be pre set so its just a rocker that operates heated seats or grips, or you can set to another default eg to screen adjustment. Not perfect and i prefer a bespoke button but you are not having to dive through menus on the move.

Im only a few hundred miles in but i dont think ive made that up!

It is a fantastic bike i have got used to the knee position which is a bit less roomy that i expected at first but not noticed it since at 34 inseam.

We’re not all PCP/ GS androids .

You don’t dislike the bike, and yet you start a thread with a juvenile title, and any posts you make are negative.

What is to be gained by all this angst?

The bike is not without fault, and Beemer have a reputation for first gen problems. We all get that…no surprises.

No one is worshiping anything. I pick mine up tomorrow (for c a s h, btw). I’ve been around bikes for some considerable time, and I’m going into this with my eyes wide open.

I do have to say that this is, without doubt, the strangest BMW forum I have frequented.

Perhaps a re naming is in order?

I got all sorts of stick off the mods on the r9t site just for going off topic. If that happened on here there wouldn't be any threads left:ROFLMAO:
Anyway back to the original ............

Hahahah, the word got automatically changed to ****

Anyway, I'll reword to be; He sounds like he comes from the middle of Scunthorpe.

I’ve made both positive and negative posts about the latest GS.
You seem to focus on the negatives for some reason .
If you want a forum where everybody blows smoke up each other arses and validates your purchase ( cash btw), then other fora may be more to your liking and somewhat sensitive nature.
Most of us came here as we had a GS.Some still have and some have moved on .
I had a GS in my garage until about 18 months ago and I still have a BMW in there. But many of us have moved on to other bikes but have stuck around .

Enjoy your new Wankpanzer.I’m sure you’ll love it
