bought a 1100gs, have a few question's,?

i know it's ugly

Bloody hell, you're not wrong there.

I thought the footrest was good until I scrolled down and saw the brake pedal - that's a particular masterpiece. Aside from the 'interesting' aesthetics, with a pedal that long the arc of motion will be huge and the leverage, massive (when it finally bites).

What sort of 'look' are you going for with this bike?

Sorry - just my humble opinion - others may disagree...

I'm going to guess the sort of look that involves a black spray can, possibly a few skulls :P

made my supa-dupa balancer today, worked a treat,

but first i changer the engine oil + filter, bevel-box oil and gear-box oil, the g/box oil was black, puzzled as to how it was so black though, unless it had'nt been changed since 1999,?
checked the tappet's, then did the "zero-zero" thing, not trying to be clever, but it was easy, cant understand why a lot has been made about it being some kind of black-art thing, nearly have the motor dialed in to how i want it, but i thought i'd give the neighbour's a break and finish it off tomorrow,

wondered what was tapping on the right hand pot, turn's out it was the sparkplug cover, it's missing the 2 little nipple's that hold it in, the head protector was stopping it falling off alltogether, wondering if anyone has a couple spare, ???

BMW dealer can sell you one.
Product number 12 42 1 284 411, price maybe 2 pounds

GARAGE HERMIT X2 is a heretic.
Probably mentally unstable.
His taste is awful
His chopping about of an iconic machine like the 1100 GS should be punished by burning at the stake
I hate the look of his designs...they do nothing for me whatsoever and they're fugly.

Keep going buddy, you're doing superb work and you have to carry on, make it yours, make it up as you go along and add in stuff that others chuck back at you.........the GS world needs people like you :clap

Just wondering how you got on with the "dealer" (Ritebike)?
There seems to be abit of uncertainty to their credentials!! I was looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291119990866?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649. I asked about PX-ing my VFR750 and was offered £400 less others dealers had said!

Just wondered if they were all wearing Stetsons when you turned up for it? ;)

Any feed back appreciated.

Sam.

did'nt have time to pick the bike up from their shop, they delivered it, all in with the listed price, so i bought it blind, risky i know, but it turned out to be ok, only thing was they said it was HPI checked, but there was no docs for it, i did it myself, all clear, checked it over and had a ride on it before i paid for it, no problem's,
they've had some bad press on the net, if you google ritebike, you'll see, but you have to make your own mind up, i'm not saying they're good or bad, but my bike turned out ok, just lucky, who know's,

I would try elsewhere they trade under various names and are only bothered about selling. No service from them once you have parted with your cash. Do a shearch on Viva Moto a name they dropped after loads neg feed back on the net.

if you really look into them, the director's of "ritebike"
are also director's of about 30 other companies, ie "webuyanybike" etc,
yes, i've read that there's no after sale's service, but i've not needed any, so i cant comment personally,

it's finished,
took it for a thrash round the estate, goes like a train, lifting the front wheel in second gear when i did'nt mean to when i gave it a handfull, getting it mot'd next week, i'll post some pic's later, so you can have a laugh, it's not pretty,

Neither is my misses, now where's those pics

well, you asked for it, so there's only yourself to blame,

small bates style h/light + a chinese 3" spot light,

1150gs speedo + low petrol indicator light,

bit of alloy plate on the rear of the p/tank, to stop my bit's and bob's getting sliced off if i happen to crash into something,

number plate hung off one of the caliper bolt's,

6" extended g/lever, work's fine,

might try and finesse it a bit over the winter, we'll see,,

You weren't joking about it not being pretty!!!!:eek:

I like it though, good job! :thumb

That's just about the maddest GS I have seen on this site. But, and I know I sound a little deranged, I like it. Really like it. I think the wiring needs a tidy up, that's all. Good job, you'll have fun on that.
