Scotland's --- west coast bike trip

I tend to stop in Perth if heading up the east side or Inverary/Tobermory if heading up the West Coast, but as I'm starting from the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, I don't have to touch any motorways or dual carriageways ;)
Yep ! Something like this...

I didn't see any humor in it. Stereotypical view of what the Scots are about. Nothing more and certainly not funny.

Sad to say - you have completely missed the humour in GC's post.........

It's a "tongue-in-cheek" list of "reasons not to come to Scotland" - so that the roads aren't spoiled by the "hordes" from the south.:blast

A simple analogy would be:

"What's that Malt Whisky like? Can I have a glass?"

"YOU WON'T LIKE IT - IT'S HORRIBLE"

Except Gordon took the time to create a complete, humorous list :clap

Al

Well there is a good solution to your problem......feck off and dont bother coming...simples.

It's Gordon's birthday today. Being told to fuck off on one's birthday must be quite unusual even for here :D :D :D

Followed by this and this and this

Dellboy, I do apologise if my post offended. In my defence, it was late Saturday night, alcohol might have been taken. :blagblah

Why bother coming up here then if that's what you think Scottish people are about?

PS I know a good number of GSers from down your way who've enjoyed GCs company and hospitality. I doubt if they would agree with you but hey, that's what opinions are all about.

Excuse me i feckin live here this is my native land, what do u mean dont come up here? Im here already. Pffttt !

I was just wondering how long CG has his auld man hinging oot for a pee that the midges get at it:eek:
N hoi it was my birthday yesterday and I didn't get a fuck off:augie from anyone on here :D

All we want is to bimble along, some Hendricks gin, some bowmore, lagavullin and a few hoppy beers. Irish so the hate factor should be low?

Any suggestions? Thinking west coast only. Want to see distilleries breweries and some pretty countryside and ride some scenic but not too hardcore roads. We ride a '99 r850r at the moment so off road must be limited to my time alone! Yeah I do go places an 'r' shouldn't!

A trip to mull is a must. A trip to skye a must. A trip to Islay a must and trip to applecross a must. So many good roads in scotland and not enough time to ride them. My bestie road is Oban to Lochgilphead. Scotland Rocks.

Oban to Lochgilphead is that the one with that hairpin that u shout lean ya bugger lean

We used to have a VFR Club weekend in Ayr each August and that stonking road was on a ride out I organised. I stopped the group in Lochgilphead and said "be careful, there's some nasty corners on this road". After promptly ignoring my own advice, we were making some pretty quick progress and the group spread out. A couple of lads on GS's had mentioned taking a road past a small loch before they got to Oban, so when one of them failed to arrive on Oban prom, we waited and waited (and ate several ice creams) and were just about to set off back to Dunoon when we got a phone call. Mike on the GS had low sided and slid about 50 foot into a field and couldn't be seen from the road, so the riders following didn't spot him. Luckily he was just a bit battered and bruised and only spent the one night in hospital. If we'd just gone back to Ayr and he was unconscious in a field, it doesn't bear thinking about :(

I think it's the A816 south from Oban that has that bend and what a fantastic road it is ! One of my all time favourites

That'll be on 'The 13 bends' between Craobh Haven and Ardfern...
Weirdly most cars go off when heading north and on the right hander at the bottom of the downhill leading out of that tight bend...

Heading south the road currently closed at the Bealach as a fire tender is attending ' an incident' :-(

Brilliant Roads

I am starting to rack up a fair bit of travel and can honestly say that the Northwest of Scotland is fantastic. The roads are built for bikes, during the week, the traffic is sparse ( just watch out for coaches ), the food excellent and the people are very welcoming ( and have a great sense of sarcastic humour ). Most Tossers will fit right in:augie

Just one word of warning and that is for the Scottish midge. Take "Avon, Skin so Soft or my preference is the jungLe formula.

Cracker place to take you bike and spend a week.:beerjug:
