Probably been on a thread before, and have seen threads on other groups, but here's the issue:
around Neutral (1 and 2) my GPI seems to have a mind of its own. I noticed first when my bike wouldn't start with the stand down - showed in gear 1 but the bike was in neutral!

The other threads talk about water getting into the GPI switch on the gearbox (after pressure washing - don't do it there!) but apart from taking the switch apart, no 'cures' have I found.

Anybody out there got more on this? I'm hoping for a 'pack it with grease and slip a condom over it and you'll have no problems' type answer. Ok, I'm willing to entertain jokes on that last bit, too!

My GPI developed a mind of it's own recently,I'd jet washed the wheels and undercarriage (from a distance-no direct pressure) to wash off all the salt and other nasties prior to putting it in the garage, put the sidestand down and it cut out,the bike was in nuetral but the GPI was displaying 1st gear :nenau
I pulled the wire connector to the switch apart on the back of the gearbox and doused both sides with WD40 and packed it with petroleum jelly, put it all back together and presto-hey no more problem:thumb
Really shouldn't have to do this but hopefully once will be enough, and if it happens again I've a good idea where to look first.
