Warning !!!!!!!!!!!!

On my short test ride I found the rear brake lever and gear lever set very poorly for my riding style and boot size. Is it possible some of you are keeping your toe accidently on the brake lever?

On my bike when pulling the the front brake lever lightly the rear brake comes on before the fronts. The way i found this out was parking the bike backwards. I was expecting the front to drag but no the rear came on quite sharply.

This is a feature not a fault according to the dealer!:augie

That's true, the good old 1150, bought it new 2003, just back from the Dordonge yesterday . 30488 miles on original pads !!!!. :clap

I can't match that, but I did 20,000 miles on an 1150, and 15,000 miles on a 1200 and didn't have to replace pads.....both 'bikes serviced at Allen Jefferies.

I'm not here to slag anyone's bike off, but surely there is something wrong with the OE pads if they are wearing out in a few thousand miles.

Replaced mine at 4500 miles ,no mention of a bill, friends bike at 4400miles no cost.

Brakes !!!

Sense of humour? Even the 1150 needs brakes for you old timers. :-p

'They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring!'

That's true, about the old timers, I'm 63, just back from the Dordonge, total 2347 miles in six days. Rode from Arras to Calais 70 miles, Dover to Northwich 268 miles, one stop for fuel, in four hours & fifteen minutes. I think for an OLD TIMER, with one heart attack and a triple bypass that's not too bad.
So for you young whipper snappers lets have a little more RESPECT. OK. !!!

Just had a call to say BMW has agreed to replace the pads, and that the new ones are slightly different to the originals, so should last longer.:beerjug:

Good to know, as my LC came from Vines too. How long before you noticed your wearing?

Well ! I informed my dealer Chester Motorrad 3 weeks ago about the rear brake pad issue,

I told them their demo bike with 1900 miles on the clock, needed looking at, because the pads were very low,

I rang my dealer today, asking if they had been in touch with BMW, they rang back saying they were waiting a reply,

A couple of hrs later i was informed that BMW don't have a brake pad problem, and this is the first complaint they've had,

What a load of bollocks , do they really think we're so stupid,

What a great forum we have, keeping one another up to date, thanks guys

Yes, my dealer knows that, "yes we have no break pad bananas". Looked at mine after 2800 miles and well done for.

63 is middle aged. So don't go claiming old timer status when you are still in your prime. Now JB on the other hand...

Mine is the third that Vines have replaced the pads on. Others here have had theirs replaced, so BMW are well aware of this, and WILL replace these free of charge. If Chester don't come up trumps, try another dealer.:thumb

Going to keep an eye on mine now as 3400 is taking the p*ss.
My CB was up to 7K when I sold it and there was lots of life left in the rears.

Nutty, do you use your rear brakes much? I hardly ever touch them expect for slow town manoeuvres, which is possibly why my CB rears lasted so long.
