Ive arranged a test ride of a 2016 WC tomorrow at local BMW dealer (won't be buying one though). Think I've got it for 3-4hrs. Looking forward to experiencing the quick shift thingamabob.

Lets see how many chip shops i can visit :D

Bets anyone?

Will be blown away by the test ride and put a deposit down.:D

2 pints - evens.

Well that's enjoyable. Had a nice ride out to Hatherage and Bakewell on the new GSA.

First thing I noticed was the grips felt really thin, but maybe thats because I have Grip Puppies on my 09 GSA?

GSA felt tiny, handlebars felt narrower than mine.

Bike was very low, my knees felt bunched up against my chest, almost impossible to change gear at first. Adjusted the ESA to 'two up' which helped, but couldn't be bothered to adjust the seat, but I think it was on its lowest setting. Had to completely lift my foot off the left peg to change down a gear .

Quickshift was amazing and very addictive :). From 1st to 2nd was a bit jerky, but every other change was foreskin smooth.

Very fast, quicker than my Hilltop 09 GSA :)

Heated grips were very good. The two settings seems to be...
1) Hot
2) Surface of the sun
Kept having to drop it down to lower setting as they were almost burning my hands.

Kick stand was awkward to flip down, its the left peg gets in the way .

Couldn't get the Nav5 off the bike, tried the key and pressing/pulling the lever but it wouldn't come off so I couldn't even stop for chips . At Bakewell I was desperate for a shit but didn't want to leave the Nav5 on the bike, so had to hold the turtles head back all day .

A great bike, not sure if the paint problems have been rectified yet but other than that there was nothing to put me off buying one. Except I can't afford one

Apart from the gearbox, everything is better on the WC! :thumby:

Them WC's are even more special than people would have us believe................... How on earth did adjusting the preload make a difference to how bunched up your knees were

'Nothing to put you off buying one' but was there anything that made you 'want to buy one' other than it was new and shiny?

It didn't, obviously, but before adjusting it when stopping and putting my feet down on the ground it felt like I was at on a skateboard. Are these WC's lower than previous GSA's?

Nope. But then I wouldn't buy a new bike anyway. The seat on my GSA is to low even on highest setting, I've often wondered about getting the seat made higher with more foam maybe. But assuming the WC seat can be adjusted to at least as high as mine then id have one 2nd hand in a few years.

Whats wrong with the gearbox then? I thought the quick shift was bloody marvellous and so easy to use. There were a few times when it didn't change down at all, and it did seem to go down from 3rd to neutral a couple of times, but I though that was perhaps my error?

Ah, I see what you mean :thumb2

It strikes me that there's no reason to change then, at least no compelling reason, unless of course you just fancy a change which is as good a reason as any. I still think your twin cam is as good as the 1200 GS's get :)

I don't have a quick shifter & into first, up to 2nd and sometimes 3rd is bloody awful.
I think its a clutch issue & may be banging my fist on the counter before the warranty runs out if it doesn't settle down.

I thought mine was low when I got it, but once the seat was adjusted and suspension set to rider/pillion/rock hard it is just fine.

I do miss my twin cam, I can't say I don't ... but the new bike is just better! :thumby:

Correct. The only reason I took the WC out in the first place was because I was at the dealers the other day and they asked if id take one out because they were 'behind' with test rides lately. I dont know if dealers have a quota to meet with test rides?:nenau

Was it a standard height or a lowered one

Not sure to be honest. I didn't ask, I just jumped on it and rode off.

F*ck the bike how were the chips :D

Sadly there were no chips as the turtles head got in the way ....

If you couldn't get the Nav 5 off with a key, surely it was safe to leave and buy chips to feed the turtles......

Very true :D. I assumed I was trying to do it wrong. So how the fuck do you remove them? I turned the key and pressed/pulled the lever but it wouldn't budge. Im going to have to have double chips tomorrow :D

There must be a knack to it as I always struggled, removed the cradle and use my phone with TomTom now.....

Lovely colour too
