EWS RECALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though from what I've read here it seems as though my 54 plate Gs1200 will not be involved in the campaign, as the local dealer has now closed how would I be informed if needed?

Contact any dealer and get them to check your bikes VIN number, they do it online and it shows up any outstanding items. :thumb

AFAIK for the 1200GS

chassis numbers ZS91949 to ZS99999
ZU58500 to ZU74499

which I think is 07 and 08 bikes or anything built after Sept 2006(when the 07 bikes where being produced)

Stumpy

My bike chassis number falls between ZU58500 to ZU74499 the dealer has told me it is not affected????? Who is correct, Iam of to Germany in 3 weeks and don't want to break down.

Thanks for that. Currently in Europe so will check when I get back.

Funnily enough....

I took my '07 1200GS in for it's 6,000 service and was asking about the ring. My details were checked and we saw on the screen that my bike wasn't included in the campaign (not that I was worried anyway).

As soon as the bike was on the lift, the ring went! They checked on screen again and it was now included in the campaign!!

Dealer says that there aren't many bikes to sort according to current stats. Said quite a few people were buying spares.

I haven't had any problems with the bike apart from this (and a wobbly mirror glass) and don't really expect to have any....left outside six weeks over Christmas when my leg was broken and started first go....so, no complaints.

Rang dealer again this morning they now say my bike needs to be done (03/07) they can't do it before the middle of July though 1.5 weeks after my trip to Germany:eek: Hope it will be OK:confused:

Bike now going in a couple of days before my trip I have got to waiste half a days holiday but rather do that than brake down abroad:eek: Will have to wait around for it so will have a chance to have a test ride on something maybe a 800GS?

EWS done today.

Hi all, my 07 GSA was booked in today at Ocean, BMW Plymouth as it was on the list to have EWS changed they also checked fuel pump relay while in the work shop all fine.

The EWS problems had never shown on my bike :nenau but hope the new one will make shaw that it never is a problem :augie thats it I am now Doomed :blast

There a great team at Ocean, can not do enough to help you :clap

Yep before any one pipes up,:augie I no they want me to spend even more money, just nice to have some customer care,:thumb2 unlike some places these days.:(

My '08 1200GS had it's 600 mile service yesterday and dealer had marked it down for EWS Antenna Recall, but looks like there is a supply problem. They will be sending out letters when they are able to do the work.

One thing to note my VIN details don't match those quoted on this thread so worth checkiing with your dealer

Well there was I think it was a shame for you guys to be experiencing this problem

I bought a low milage second hand 07 GSA just over a week ago. Been great to ride. Go out today, put the key in the ignition and "click"! Look at the dash and the red triangle is showing with "brake failure" on constantly. I am new to this so I am not sure what is going on. So I do it again and the same "click" and message. I am thinking it may be the battery, so putit on charge for a bit and turn the key again. This time multiple clicks and "EWS!" sign comes up. Try it again and I go back to one click and the brake message. Charge it a bit, multiple clicks and EWS! You get the idea........

I guess this is the EWS? and not some thing else? Either way bike won't go.....very disappointed indeed as this is my first BM and all my other bikes have been totally reliable!

Its still in warranty, so can I get it fixed at any dealer, as I am a distance from the dealer I purchased off of?

I think you may be right. Just went out and it turned over this time but did not fire and then the click, click again!

If it is the battery is it possible it could drain so quickly from Friday? No alarm on, but I wired in the sat nav last week and tapped the positive onto the lighter socket and negative to the battery. Thats the only hing I have changed since i bought it
