Never used one but bought a bike wired for one, the unit itself appears to be dead. Pretty bashed about as well. Is it worth buying another? Not planning on a RTW trip but find them useful on occasion. One day I'll learn to ask questions beforehand. Anyhow, any and all advice gratefully received. :)

Quest

Hi,
Garmin stopped supplying updated mapping for the Quest a few years ago - which is a great shame 'cos they were great wee units:thumb2
I have two Quests units and one motorcycle mount, which I no longer use.
I bought a new Garmin Zumo 350 last year because the 2008/2009 mapping on the Quest was very poor for ex-Eastern Block countries of Europe.
Although the Quest mapping is older it is still helpful and usable for day to day routing - except in eastern Europe!
So if you want test what you have and/or replace a faulty unit I am quite happy to help if I can - I'm only about 25 miles from you.
I also have discs for the Mapsource software along with unlock codes.
Give me a PM if you want to try anything or discuss.

Cheers...................Grizzly:beerjug:

Never used a Quest. I wonder if you could get up to date Open Street Maps on it like you can with the old 2610’s

It goes to show how good Garmin hardware is. I have 5 units dating from 2004 and all still work. Note to self........ must stop hoarding!

I used to update my Quest with OSM mapping from a Danish website but the data eventually outgrew the Quest’s capacity
